America's Founders brought the concept of democracy over from England, but the original concept came from Athens. Few societies since Athens's Golden Age have enjoyed freedom, which is easily lost. The Republic of Rome became a degenerate empire. God certainly willed that America would prosper and become an example an...d source of hope for all people. Our shortcomings, easily confessed, do not compare with the freedom we have established wherever our flag is planted. In WWII, our enemies prayed the Yankees would arrive first.
